Introduction to the Hua-yen Sutra

Course Description:

The course introduces the essence of the Hua-yen Sutra, the content of each chapter, the steps and principles for cultivation in the Sutra, and the application of the Sutra in daily life.

About the Instructor:

Ven. Hui Ji earned her Master's degree in the Graduate Institute of Hua-yen Buddhist College, and is currently a Lecturer in the institute. She also teaches in the Hai Yin Institute.

Course Description:

About the Instructor:

Ven. Tian Yan earned her Master's degree in the Graduate Institute of Hua-yen Buddhist College, and is currently a Lecturer in the institute.

Ven. Quan Du

Ven. Quan Du is the abbot of Yangmingshan Guangquan Temple, the editor in chief of The Bodhisattva Guanyin Dharma Gate Series, and the Chairman of the Yogacara Research Center, affiliated with the Chung-Hwa Institute of Buddhist Studies, Dharma Drum Mountain.

Course Description:

The “Five Animal Frolics” is a Tai Chi form that mimics animals’ characteristics and movements to train the body and mind. It helps relax tendons and meridians and move blood and Qi through the body, and thus improves your health.

Mr. Fan is the director of the China Sunshine Tai Chi Association.

Course Description:

In this course, students start with Regular script, and gradually learn to write other Chinese script styles at their own pace. The instructor will correct students’ work in class and give lectures on Chinese script styles, including Regular script, Clerical script, Semi-cursive script, Cursive script, and Seal script, introducing their structures, arrangements and writing techniques. Demonstrations will be given in class.

About the Instructor:

Mr. Zheng now teaches Chinese painting and calligraphy at the Yuan Kuang Buddhist College, Tzu Chi Foundation, Sanchong Community University, and Yangmingshan Guangquan Temple. He graduated from military academy.

Dunhuang Dance

Course Description:

Dunhuang dance originated from the Buddhist frescos in the Mogao Caves. The frescoes represent the beautiful images of Bodhisattvas. Dunhuang dance shows the beauty of body gestures and movements. When you are dancing, your movements flow in harmony with your body’s internal energy. Dunhuang Dance is suitable for females at any age.

About the Instructor:

Ms. Li now teaches Dunhuang Dance at Fo Guang Shan Taipei branch temple, and teaches children dance in kindergartens and community dance classes. She graduated from the Department of Dance, Taipei Hwa Kang Arts School.

Course Description:

The course introduces photography through visual aids and hands on demonstrations. Through this course, you can learn how to make the most use of your camera menu settings to take good photos. Most importantly, you can know how to connect to Nature through photography, find pleasure in taking pictures, and perceive the true appearance of the world.

Mr. Zhang is the CEO of the Fifth Dimension Marketing Company and Tou-wei Cultural and Creative Studio. He graduated from Lan Yang Institute of Technology.
